Born in Pewsey, Wiltshire in Q1-1924 [Pewsey 5a:221], lived in Birmingham. Son of Stephen James and Florence MEANEY (née ALEXANDER), later of Newmarket.

None have been identified in the 1939 register.


Care has to be taken when researching this Regiment as the official spelling after 1920 is "WELCH".

On 9th July 1944 his battalion was in Colleville, a few miles west of Caen, Vincent being the only fatality that day.

He was first buried at Colleville and moved to St. Manvieu on 15th October 1945
